Horse First Heavy Sweat is a supplement which replaces the electrolytes lost in sweat. Electrolytes are essential body salts used for body processes such as the heart, kidneys and stomach. Electrolytes also balance the bodys fluids - controlling water levels and intake.
Some horses do not show visible signs of sweating but still need electrolytes - signs include a dry colour coat, no energy or spark and dark or cloudy coloured urine.
Electrolytes should be fed either - mixed in damp feed, mixed in a syringe or in drinking water - remember to always give a choice of drinking water one with electrolytes and one without.
It is vital when feeding electrolytes that the horse always has a fresh supply of drinking water. Monitor fluid intake if possible.
