There’s nothing quite as satisfying as arriving at a show, taking your horse off the trailer and seeing the light catching your horse's beautiful, shiny and healthy coat. We’ve a number of tips on how you can get your horse gleaming this season.

Grooming

Your grooming routine will be a huge factor in the condition of your horse's coat. It’s advisable to groom your horse every day, making sure you pay particular attention to currying and brushing. Currying your horse will stimulate the release of natural oils and is normally quite enjoyable for the horse. Brushing then helps to spread the natural oils across the horse's coat. When brushing your horse, the dandy brush will help to break up and remove dirt, debris and dry skin. 

One of our most popular brands of horse brushes is the Haas collection. Haas brushes are renowned in the showing community for promoting a silky and shiny finish. Many horse owners see a noticeable difference in their horses' coats a short time after using the brushes. KM Elite Ultimate Oil, which is a blend of high quality oils providing more than 190 bioactive nutrients including healthy ratios of Omegas 3, 6, 9 and rare Omega 7. KM Elite Ultimate oil can also be highly effective for sweet itch when used in conjunction with Equine America Sooth Itch cream.

TRM Curragh Carron Oil provides a source of essential fatty acids from a high quality blend of cold pressed linseed oil & calcium. Feed as a digestive aid and to achieve that look of vitality and health.

Shampoos & Sprays

Bathing your horse can help to remove sweat, loose hair and dirt in the coat. Quality products will help to prevent irritation and provide optimum results.

Shapley’s Hi Shine Clarifying Shampoo is an extremely popular, deep cleansing shampoo for use on all areas where hair is present. Used to make the coat, mane and tail clean and shiny.

Supreme Blue Shampoo is a firm favourite among owners of grey horses, although is effective on all coat colours. It provides excellent results and does not stain the coat.

Another firm favourite among the showing community is Supreme Coat Gloss which creates a perfect show coat without being sticky, tacky, static or oily. It can also be used as an underbelly mud repellent and to keep quarter markers in place.
