Equidry Guide

Equidry Guide Guide
Need help choosing the best Equidry for you?

Wondering which Equidry coat will be the best fit for you and your lifestyle? We've put together this handy guide to help you select the perfect coat for you.

Shelter against the elements with a durable, waterproof and very breathable coat which has been designed for the ultimate comfort and manoeuvrability.

Equidry is a small family business which takes pride in producing high-quality, safe, comfortable and functional products suitable for competitive and leisure riders alike.

Equidry's Green Pledge

From their initial setup, Equidry has been committed to reducing its footprint and has partnered with nonprofit organisations dedicated to global reforestation such as One Tree Planted and Ecologi. They work closely with manufacturers to switch to a plant based, environmentally friendly, waterproofing solution which doesn't contain any harmful compounds. Alongside this, they are looking to switch fabrics to 100% recycled nylon and 100% recycled polyester which would otherwise end up in landfill.

Equidry Bag

You will notice that every product comes in its own carry bag. This is more than a practical decision, the deeper reasoning behind this is to minimise single use plastics in as many aspects of delivery as possible.

1. Select your size

Picking the correct size is the most important part of the selection process. Equidry coats are a unisex fit, designed to be worn over a body protector, competition jacket or additional layers. Their sizing is focused on height rather than chest size, so if you would like to wear your new Equidry more like a conventional coat, we would recommend choosing the smallest size that fits your height. Alternatively, if you think the fit needs to be more generous, opt for a larger size for your height.

2. Choose your hood

One of the more important features of an Equidry is the hood. Some riders prefer to ride without one from a safety point of view, whilst others prefer a snug fitting hood. The third option is an oversized fit, suitable for use over a riding hat.

3. How warm do you want to be?

Equidry offer 3 levels of warmth so you can pick the right coat for your climate needs. Their thermal rating system has 3 different levels of insulation, so there is a full length coat for every type of weather from a non filled Equimac to a super toasty, puffer lined parka.

4. Waterproof rating explained

An Equidry will give you protection from the rain for a significant amount of time and while a water resistant coat will prevent water penetration, this is only to a certain level. The Equidry coats are fully waterproof and therefore suitable for use outdoors regardless of the weather.

Manufacturers use an HH waterproof rating to help you determine whether a coat is truely waterproof or only water resistant.

Hydrostatic Head (mm) Waterproof ratings explained:

  • 0-1500mm = Water resistant, suitable for very light rain.
  • 1500-5000mm = Waterproof, suitable for light to average rain.
  • Over 5000mm = Very waterproof, suitable for moderate to heavy rain.
  • 10,000-15,000mm = Highly waterproof, suitable for heavy rain.
  • 20,000mm = Extremely waterproof, suitable for heavy rain and snow.

With a rating up to 20,000mm, Equidry coats will keep you dry in even the most extreme conditions.

How to care for your new Equidry

Equidry coats are built to last but in order to preserve them, they recommend following the care instructions below:

  • Fully machine washable up to 30 degrees but to preserve the waterproof properties, it is advised that the coat is not washed too frequently. Never use biological washing powder/liquid or fabric conditioner.
  • Mud friendly. When necessary, just wipe down your coat with a damp cloth (or even a hose) to keep it looking cleaner for longer.
  • Avoid direct heat and sunlight, do not store your new Equidry on or above a direct heat source.
  • Do not dry clean, hot wash or tumble dry.
  • Equidry recommend washing and reproofing coats with a reproofing product at least 2-3 times a year. It is important to follow the reproofing products instructions carefully.
  • For best results use a spray on reproofing product, paying special attention to all the seams and stitching.
  • You must reproof your Equidry every time you wash it to maintain it's waterproof protection.
